Well. Someone is apathetic.
I actually had to write an OI about Katrina and think it's really sad about what happened. What if people knew about it and COULDN'T leave? What if they didn't have MONEY?

but the government told those idiots to get out of the city, you got a category five hurricane that's going to mow you over. What did they do? "I think i'll ride it out". I say they deserve to be stranded like little ants in a rainstorm. If you're going to rebel against the governments best advice, much less say you're bigger than the storm, you deserve to have this.
Actually, I think what happened here is... uh, you're a fucking idiot.
New Orleans told people that it was safe to enter the city again, since the hurricane passed over 'safely'
Good job checking the fucking levees you twats.
So no. The people of New Orleans were just following fucking instructions. They were told it was safe. It was the day after that they got slammed when the levees busted.
Conclusion: You're an idiot. It was a tragedy, and it was only the fault of the state of Louisiana and the fucking thugs who were in charge of New Orleans. It was the most poorly run city in America.
I agree though, I shouldn't have to donate shit. We need to raise a hundred billion dollars? Well Mr. President shouldn't even blink before taking 100 billion out of the war on Iraq and stuffing it into New Orleans. We can spend trillions of dolalrs on our military to end lives, but not a hundred billion to save lives in OUR OWN FUCKING COUNTRY? Gimme a fucking break.

A lot of 'racism' has come from this whole thing. Look at the television, folks. A very high majority of the people there are african american. That doesn't mean jack to me, but I've heard so many racist comments about it, and it's getting a bit excessive. The whole thing is ridiculous, if you ask me. They shoot people who're trying to help them. They shoot their own flesh and blood over rice. They steal televisions so they can feel important, because electricity just isn't running there. If you thought black people had a bad reputation before, wait until this blows over. New Orleans is a prime example of how far behind humanity really is.
I'm not going to contribute money to people who're obviously too stupid to fend for themselves that they need to fire at the Coast Guard. Thumbs up, NO.

You have a point there, Sephirah. But also keep in mind, the very police, their own police force is looting the city. Like, half the people there have nobody to trust, and there's no more chain of command. It's basically a free for all. I'm not saying it's excusable to shoot at the coast guard, the people doing that shit are fucking morons.
But on the other hand, do you think that NOBODY should give any money? That the entire city should just be in anarchy 'til some gang establishes a monopoly and thus control? I mean, that's basically what's happening, and that's something that America shouldn't allow to happen.

I'm an asshole. There's no secret there, but the fact is, even I think something should be done to help them out. If they could just restore order, the rest would fall in place. I just can't get over the whole rice thing.
Brother: "Wow, see you got a thing of rice there. Looks pretty damn good.
Sister: Yes, yes I do. It's not the San Francisco treat, now it's the New Orleans treat.
Brother: It'd go good with this gun I've got. Rice and guns are an unbeatable combination.
Sister: But it's my rice.
Brother: I'm going to shoot your ass if you don't hand over that Rice A Roni, bitch.
You just have to wonder what kind of rice it was. If it was that brown chicken rice stuff, I'd shoot that bitch, too.

I'd shoot someone over chicken fried rice from Ollies.
If it wasn't from Ollies though, then that guy's just a prick

Yeah, no shit. I bet if you were in that situation, you'd feel quite differently. Or if you had family there maybe. Your points are weak, and really, really immature and mean.
"It's their fault they're dying." Paraphrase.
Nice man, way to use what brain you have.

I agree with Sephirah and with Jadien... I mean, it's not their fault... but some of the people there are acting like fucking idiots, shooting at anything that moves. I would be hesitant to rescue someone like that, for sure.

I laugh at them. I honestly do. Not necessarily the people that were dirt poor, but everyone that is still there on up from that point. It costs about 50 bucks to get a bus ticket to some place else. Most people... can afford that. Poor people begging on the side of the street.. not spending their money on booze can afford that. (I checked ticket prices out of curiousity) It's just incredibly funny when people who own things like televisions and such claim they couldn't afford to get out. Bitch, I would of fucking WALKED away from that place if I had no other way. I'd get my fuckng bicycle out and start pedaling my ASS off. Personally, I say we carpet bomb New Orleans and just make it a lake resort. I'm so tired of hearing about what those assholse are doing down there. I realize it is a chaotic environment, but jesus. It's like a bunch of three year olds fighting over candy. Also, we need to get the governor and bitch slap 'em to death for telling Bush that they needed 24 more hours to decided on how to decide on the options given to them. Way to go assholes! Not only did you fuck over countless people in your state, you managed to make my president look worse. -Tipahurate

Tipahurate, until recently, around 60-80% of the city was flooded. Not everyone has a fucking pedal boat, if that's what you meant.
A good number of those people honestly and truly got fucked. Some of them had very very few options.
Some of them are idiots, but some of them really don't have much chance to get out

Considering I was using 'bitch' as my way of talking to all of you.. yes.. yes I did.
I've been on a slight drinking binge, and my brain isn't functioning very well this minute. So I'll refrain from making my post in teh w0rlz0rz until the morrow.
Anyways, I just figure if you live in a place about to get ass raped.. people will probably be talking about it for a while. I figure that since humans have ears.. they'd hear about it.
MB, don't be a cock stain. I don't know how much more obvious I could be in my last post. I was talking before the people acted like retards and hung around for the storm.
Fuck, and I thought people liked swimming.

I mean come on, even a homeless guy can look through a random window at the news and see something big and scary right near his state and start running
Again, you're an idiot. No, actually no, you can't see a hurricane like that. It's a storm. Just... a storm. What you're thinking of is a tornado.
Now look. Here is why the people are NOT idiots. Four people with a vehicle submerged by four feet of water? Okay, they probably evacuated. But look- the STATE OF LOUISIANA TOLD THEM IT WAS ALL CLEAR because the hurricane passed over 'without doing any damage'. That is why so many people got caught by this thing. They were told that it was safe.
It sucked and it was poor governing.
Also, keep in mind-
Many of the people getting slammed are little children, disabled people, or people with other sorts of conditions. People have more complicated needs.
