I believe in Natural Selection.
I think that's all that needs to be said.
There are enough people on this planet, so some have to die without wanting to, and some decided to die by joining the military and so forth. People have to die in order for others to live.

That's true, but this WASN'T Natural Selection.
Natural Selection doesn't exist anymore, since we're the masters of our environment.
What we experienced was more of a 'bottleneck' type disaster- only it won't hinder our species' advancement since there are so many of us anyway.

I know, but nature is what we make it these days.
We fucked with nature, now it strikes back.
I still call that natural selection, or near-natural selection. Same shit.

Well natural selection is when a species has a predator or another sort of natural obstacle which kills it, and so only the members of the species who have traits advantagous to their environment can survive, and thus they evolve into a species better suited to the environment.

I still think it applies as far as the disabled go..
Except backwards. Instead of others being more suited than most, they're more unsuited. Natural selection sounds about right.

It's not so much that they got stuck in the hurricane aftermath, it's what they've done -since-. It's like they want to make history by acting exactly like the idiolts here on the internet. For those that are still stranded and complaining because the government isn't 'saving' them, here's a tip; put down your TV's, stop firing at the Coast Guard, and understand that you're going to re-instate slavery with the idiocy you're showing. Could they have gotten out? Yes. If a hurricane is predicted, are you going to trust the moron with the Supercuts haircut and the Doc Martins that shows up on your local news? So in essence, yes, not leaving was stupid on their part.
Everything since has been even worse. I'm not giving money or compassion to a chaotic cesspool like that.

Well, those who were smart enough to survive survived, and those who weren't smart enough to survive died.
It's a vague way of looking at it, but it's accurate if you think about it.

You could say the same about the tsunami
But when it comes down to it, it's just a natural disaster. It's not your fault if you get killed

Those who are still in the city are the ones refusing to go. They don't want to leave, for whatever reason they have, and now they're being forced to leave. Plus, not everyone sits around and watches the news 24/7. There were alot of people who didn't even hear word that there was an evacuation called until the day before it hit. They actually have lives and jobs to work. Some people don't have cable, or a TV at all. Ever think of that? And even those who did hear about it probably couldn't get out for a number of valid reasons (no gas, not enough buses, etc).
Makes me wonder what some of your opinions were about 9/11...

This isn't comparable to 9/11... This is much more of a disaster for a few reasons
1) it couldn't have been avoided 2) we had less warning in advance 3) more people died (probably) 4) more people's lives were destroyed
9/11 was a tragedy, but it wasn't as terrible as Mr. Bush tries to make it sound. It was unfortunate, and civilians should never be the ones to die for our government's actions, but that's what happened...
But our country had an attack coming. Not only that, but we knew that terrorists were planning to attack around that time.

I love MB. You're such a hypocrite. OMGZ IT ISH SUCH A BIG DISASTER, but.. 9/11 wasn't so bad.. xD And it is PRESIDENT Bush. It always WILL BE MR. PRESIDENT. Bwuahaha! -Totally rubs it in your face- OMGZ, our country had it coming. You're such a loser. Now your opinion on the hurricane means jack shit to me. I'm not a big whiny compassionate guy, but at least I hold to my ideals. The reason 9/11 is different is because it was a person with a plane and not a hurricane. One was nature and one was a malicious event. Nature is nature.. humans killing other humans is a true tragedy. That's when natural selection isn't an option. Unless, you're me and you consider humans animals. But dammit.. I want people using their hands and teeth, not planes. 9/11 is different because the government wasn't absolutely 100% sure what was going to happen. We knew 100% this hurricane was coming. We knew exactly how big it was. We knew it was a freakin ENORMOUS storm. We knew that people in the city would likely get owned. Then the state government there made some pretty horrible decisions. Now for my words of irony. They knew the hurricane was coming, MB.. So I guess they had it coming as much as anyone on 9/11. -Tipahurate

The fuck is your guys' problems? I live in the fucking city and I know exactly how bad 9/11 was. Exactly.
The disaster in New Orleans is a million times worse.
It's not like I like the fact that my country, much less MY CITY, got attacked by terrorists. You act like I'm waving their flag. But we'd been pissing on Iraq, on Afghanistan, on half the middle east and thinking there would be no repercussions.
Third of all, the loss of life was MINIMAL. It could have been much worse, but it wasn't. Two buildings were destroyed and three thousand lives. What's the situation in New Orleans? Practically the whole city is fucked up right now. It will take YEARS to rebuild. That situation is worse by far, I would imagine.
Secondly, I didn't compare the level of destruction to the tsunami. Stop acting like a prick. All I'm saying was that they were both natural disasters, and sometimes, there's not a whole lot you can do.
Tipahurate, I'm not being a hypocrite. An entire city is in need of help. After 9/11, New York was FINE, except for the toxic dust. We got on our fucking feet and went on our lives. People can't DO that in New Orleans. They need billions of dollars. They need lots of help. Even the people that evacuated need help.
They lost their homes, basically all of their possessions, their jobs, their lives. The situation is hardly comparable to any othe single eventr in American history.
You guys are calling ME a prick for my views on 9/11 and meanwhile openly state that you won't give a godamned cent to the people in New Orleans. Assholes.

I ended up watching that speech Bush gave in New Orleans, and what's funny is I don't know what to think about it. If he's doing all that stuff? Great. If not, then he's an idiot. I'm not really there to see it, so I just don't know. He still can't talk, though. Goofy little bastard.

Damn straight he's a goofy bastard. That's what I enjoy. I can actually 'stand' to listen to him talk unlike others. Oh, and he has yet to spend all our social security money to get the country out of debt. Oh wait, Bill Clinton already did that. Apparantly, you're unaware of the fact that this is merely the second biggest hurricane to hit the USA. Read more, pay attention more, use your brain more. 1) it couldn't have been avoided 2) we had less warning in advance 3) more people died (probably) 4) more people's lives were destroyed That is why I proclaim you an idiot. You're using points that you don't even know yet. We DIDN'T have less warning. It was all over the radio there I'm sure. It was plastered all over my television here in Iowa. I guarantee it was in the newspaper for a few days. It isn't my problem if someone doesn't keep some small track of what's going on. Fuck those people. I've seen how much money bums rake in. They could afford the 50 cent newspaper. Don't they sleep in that shit anyways? They could roll over and read about the hurricane coming days ahead of time! (Yeah, I'm a satiric bastard) Now, the 'experts' are proclaiming that they think less people have died than expected. Nice finishing sentence. You're a bigger asshole so there! Lmao. Nice. I am an asshole. I don't care what you think. I'm merely stating that you're just as bad. And that they are both horrid events, and it is hard to say one is worse than the other. I just can't feel sorry for the people that decided to ride out a hurricane. I can't feel sorry for people, that have things of leisure, when they claim they can't afford a fucking bus. I DO feel bad for a bunch of people going to work on a normal day and having some a-hole slam a plane into the building. The bottom line is simple. I am from Iowa. We're considered behind everywhere else. We don't have a lot to do here. Inflation is low.. our gas is about 50 cents cheaper than yours.. I still saw that fucking hurricane eight times a day on television.. and I don't watch television very much. I read about it in the newspaper.. I heard all sorts of shit about it on the radio. Iowans weren't in danger, but we all fuckin' knew about it! Either the people there made some stupid decisions or we purposely didn't tell them about it. There's gonna be exceptions, and I said I had a measure of pity for them. The one's that died not in that category of those that knew it was comin'.. there's just no reason. I'll relate a story my step-dad once told me. You've probably heard it before. There was a great flood coming. And a man decided to ride it out on the top of his roof. The neighbors urged him to flee, but he said no. The water arrived and everyone was leaving, but he scoffed at them and told them he would stay. "If it is my time to go, it is my time." The waters rose and some people came by on boat and asked him to come. He said, "If it's my time, it is my time." Finally the water rose above the roof and he began to drown. He looked up and asked God if it was his time. God replied, "No, but I gave you three chances." The story is stupid, but the point is clear. Those individuals had some warning. They had DAYS of warning. I feel no pity nor reason to help anyone who has their chance and doesn't take it. Will I donate to help people get food and water.. Yes. Have I already? Yes. How much? Blow me, it isn't your business. George Bush Senior asked me during football.. so I named the price, and then I saw Clinton and I cut it in half. Yeah, I'm an asshole, but I'm a smart one. -Tipahurate

Yes, you read the title right.
I have to interject here. Although I'm sort of 'part-time' now, I still get a chance to get on infrequently to read over the forums and see what's going on. You have been running your mouth about the dumbest shit imaginable. Apparently you're supposed to be some kind of legend from somewhere...well, just listening and reading to you makes me want to kick your ass. If you haven't gotten it yet, I'm making a challenge.
