We should really get that thing started. I helped with the ideas that put the thread in motion, so I thought I might post some ideas. We could get it moving if we posted a sub-board that contained threads for character descriptions, and a stickied thread for the ranking system. Then, we would simply throw everyone's characters together in a bracket, post the first matchups, and we would all jump in from there.
I think that the system has potential to be awesome. We need to get it started though.
As for the whole items thing and trading lives thing, after thinking about it, I think that just works to overcomplicate the system. It should be done by points and points alone, where in a normal fight, both members agree on a point gamble (under a certain limit, of course) and bracketed fights have set point win/loss numbers attached to them, increasing as you move higher up.
I think we should seriously get this thing started

Alright. IM me on AIM to talk about it more. I've been thinking about it as well. And trying to figure out how to work out the bugs for the system, but I haven't come up with much yet.
I'm gonna reccomend to Sephirah that you become a mod of the Nexus as well. It was your idea, and would be easier if we worked together.

Well, why don't you take all the fights that have been done since this place re-opened, and start that way. Same with the tournament fights, too. It's not a bad idea, and it might encourage people to fight more.

Well, why put already finished fights on it? I don't think it would be right to score people on fights that weren't fought within the nexus.
I think that people should have to actually register their character to the system. Once we work out the board, you could make an announcement so that people would see it

Darsh already made the first step in getting it going, so all you guys need now is a good base of people to participate. I might, once I see it running.

Yea, 'cuz I'm getting bored, and I don't think I'll win anything just for beating up NPCs. Otherwise, I'd have 39847214 posts up by now, and proclaimed myself the supreme champion.
Edit: Hmmm... Reading over the thing about the Artifacts again, I didn't notice there being a "once a month" usage for any of them. That seems kind of... worthless, if you ask me. "Once a day" usage would make it more meaningful to have them, in my opinion. This especially concerns my character, since he doesn't really have any "powers", and all of his specialty attacks come from the fighting style he uses (Ansatsuken). I'll make all the special attacks and super attacks into Artifacts, but not if I can only use them once a month.
